core principles anthony stephen mendes

This blog article consists of core philosophies of mine that I have learned, garnered, created or adopted over the last few years.

Anthony Stephen Mendes means minimalism.

I am a minimalist to the core: not of laziness, elitism or lack of wanting to put art out there.

My goal is to bring clarity and reduce friction.

Anything excess or unwanted gets shrugged off.

Minimalism is a way of life.

People love to take a dig at minimalism. I understand your viewpoint but I do not agree with it.

Minimalism is essential in an age where we are constantly bombarded with choices.

It gets overwhelming.

I categorise minimalism into these spaces:

Digital minimalism

The art of reducing screen time and dependencies on your digital devices.

Spatial minimalism

The ability to clear your physical space so you can attain focus.

Mental minimalism

The fortitude to not let your mind overload despite external circumstances.

Social minimalism

The proposition you make to the world on how you will interact with them.

Minimalism is easy to learn and adapt.

There are those who shun minimalism and those who use it to make content.

Both damage its reputation.

Creating or consuming hours of minimalist content is a waste of time for creator and consumer.

The idea should be easy to follow content and the ability to adapt it right away.

Self help books, guides and methods are nice because you can delay action.

But they do not help you adapt healthy practices.

What you need is a clear guide on why you need minimalism and how it helps.

Life principles that are easy to adopt

I love life principles that you can get onboard with.

My distaste lies around someone trying to shove their concepts down my throat and therefore I do not want to do the same.

Here are some principles apart from minimalism that help.

Stoicism

Life is not all that serious all the time. Learn to sit back and not have a reaction to everything.

Family

Family comes first to me. The only exceptions are merit based contests.

Return to zero

If you want to get rid of a habit, stop it right away instead of trying to reduce day by day.
